Rohit Sharma (born 30 April 1987) is an Indian international cricketer and the captain of the Indian national team in limited-overs formats. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest opening batsmen in modern cricket.
He is the only player in the history of One Day Internationals (ODIs) to score three double centuries and holds the record for the highest individual score in ODIs (264).
Early life
Rohit Sharma was born in Nagpur, Maharashtra, and raised in Mumbai. Due to financial constraints, he lived with his grandparents during his early years.
He began playing cricket at a young age and was trained at a cricket camp in Mumbai under coach Dinesh Lad, who recognized his talent and supported his development.
International career
Rohit made his international debut for India in 2007. He gained prominence during the ICC T20 World Cup 2007 and later established himself as a dependable top-order batsman.
In 2013, he was promoted as an opening batsman in ODIs, a move that transformed his career. He went on to score multiple centuries and became one of the most consistent performers in world cricket.
